Celebration Services

Each Sunday morning we meet together at 10:00 a.m. to celebrate our relationship with God and our relationship with each other. This is a time to bless the Lord through our praise and worship. It is also a time to listen to what God has to say to us through the anointed sharing of His Word. We believe and teach the Bible as true and relevant for today, without apology. Celebration is also a time to respond to Jesus Christ and what He calls us to do. As we worship, the altar is open for ministry as persons respond to the Lord.

Our Worship

Through worship, we bless God and minister to Him. We praise Him for who He is through singing and the spoken word.

Questions You May Have Concerning Worship:

Why do we praise and worship?

"You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only" (Matthew 4:10b). "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth" (Psalm 50:23).

Why do we praise audibly, clap our hands, and dance?

"Let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise - the fruit of lips that confess His name" (Hebrews 13:15).
"O clap your hands, all ye peoples; shout to God with the voice of joy" (Psalm 47:1)

Why do we speak prophetic words?

"And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy..." (Joel 2:28).

Why do we lift our hands?

"So I will bless Thee as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Thy Name" (Psalm 63:4). "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord" (Psalm 134 :2).

Why do we sing the songs we do, use instruments, and dance?

"...as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God" (Col. 3:16). "Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instrument and pipe. Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals" (Psalm 150:3-5).

Why do we express affection?

"And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also" (I John 4:21).

Why do we pray for healing and anoint with oil?

"Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let him pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: (James 5:14)."And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed (I Peter 2:24).

Why do we minister to each other?

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our afflictions so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God" (I Corinthians 1:3-4) "Now we who are strong ought to bear the weakness of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to his edification" (Romans 15:1-2).

Why do we receive tithes and offerings?

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing until there is no more need" (Malachi 3:10)."Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" (11 Corinthians 9:7).

"Give and it will be given to you good measure, pressed down, shaken together running over, they will pour into your lap. For whatever measure you deal out to others, it will be dealt to you in return" (Luke 6:38).

Cell Groups

The cell group is the basic unit of the church. In the church we read about in the Bible, it says they met together in the temple courts and from house to house. The cell group is the house-to-house ministry we read about in the New Testament. For that reason, everyone in our church is expected to become part of a cell group. It is where the "one another" ministry takes place in the body.

What are Cell Groups?

A cell group is a gathering of at least three people who meet regularly (at least twice a month) in homes in order to cultivate relationships and grow together spiritually while reaching out to unchurched people in their spheres of influence. Cell groups are not home Bible studies, prayer meetings, or social events. A cell group meeting is primarily a time for the church to function as the body of Christ, applying the Word to daily life and ministering to one another through the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

As a church, our mission is to make more and better followers of Jesus Christ. "Making more," means evangelizing the lost, and "making better" means discipleship. Both of these goals, evangelism and discipleship, are met through the relationship opportunities in cell groups.

Equipping

We at Cornerstone believe that every member of the church, including youth and children, is to be actively involved in ministering to one another and others by the power of God. To help this to happen, everyone who becomes a part of Cornerstone Church is encouraged to experience The Year of Equipping for Ministry.

The Bible talks about "equipping the saints for the work of the ministry," and this training is designed to do just that. It will transform your life and prepare you for ministry. It is "heart training" that transcends academics by allowing you to put what you learn into immediate practice within your cell group relationships.

Equipping is one part of being a Cornerstone member. You will find that by participating in worship celebration, a life-giving cell group, and equipping encounters, your life will be transformed and you will be happier and more fulfilled in your Christian life and ministry than you ever thought possible!

In the Year of Equipping for Ministry, there are five weekend retreats, called Encounter Weekends, that we hold at the church every other month from September to May. At the Encounter Weekends, you will learn the vision of the church (Foundations Encounter), get free from any spiritual bondages from the past (Freedom Encounter), get equipped to share the gospel with unbelievers and disciple them (Witness Encounter), learn how to be a minister in cell group life (Ministry Encounter), and discover God's purpose for your life - helping to extend His Kingdom (Servanthood Encounter).

Between Encounter Weekends, there are interactive study materials that you work through with someone in your cell group. The books help you to grow and apply what you are learning to your life.

Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry Vision Statement: "To create an atmosphere of love, acceptance and forgiveness where an army of youth are conditioned, trained and mobilized to love God, serve one another and reach the world."

Cornerstone's youth ministry is focused on making more and better followers of Jesus Christ among our middle-school and high-school students. In fact, our youth are invited to become fully-functioning members of the body of Christ.

Just as the adults in our church are called to be ministers to one another through cell groups, youth are encouraged to be part of a student-led cell group that meets in a home for relationship, prayer, accountability, and outreach. Youth cell groups gather weekly at a county-wide rally on Sunday night at Cornerstone's central campus. The rally is for worship, teaching, fellowship, and fun.

The youth ministry team also leads regular training events to equip students and adults for cell ministry. Community outreach events and service projects give students hands-on opportunities to serve the Lord with all their heart and to love their neighbors.

Children's Ministry

At Cornerstone, we believe children can worship God, love Jesus, experience the Holy Spirit and reach out to other children. On Sunday mornings, in addition to nurseries for the very young, we have "Dynamites" classes for pre-schoolers and "ROCK Church" for elementary age children.

ROCK Church is an innovative approach to children's ministry. The goal of ROCK Church is to call children at a young age to a life that is devoted to the Word, fellowship, worship, and prayer. We believe that every member of the church, even children, are called to be ministers.

ROCK Church meets on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month during the Celebration Service. The ministry includes dynamic worship led by a team that includes children and teens; strong, creative, Biblical teaching that calls children to a life of obedience and commitment, and cell group interaction that is led by adults with the assistance of children. Children learn to pray for and minister to one another under the Godly supervision of a team of committed adults.

During the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, we invite elementary age children to experience the Celebration service with their parents. This is an invaluable time for adults to provide children with a model of worshipful response to God. It is also a time for God to speak directly to the hearts of the children through the worship and preaching. We have seen the awesome results first-hand!

We want to reach the heart of each child in our church so that they can become ministers. It may sound radical, but it works!
